Haywood EMC is committed to providing our members with affordable, reliable, safe services and open communications. In addition, safety is the utmost priority for our employees. Haywood EMC was the first utility in the state of North Carolina to have Automated External Defibrillators (AED's) in our trucks in the fields and in our local offices. All our employees are also trained in first aid, CPR, and the use of the AED's. Haywood EMC is accreditated by the Rural Electric Safety Accreditation Program.
Haywood EMC offers VFD High-Voltage Safety/Training Presentations:
Haywood EMC (HEMC) has a safety presentation that we would be glad to come and share with your fire fighters and first responders.
This program deals with electrical hazards for fire fighters and first responders while fighting house fires, or vehicle accidents that might involve a power pole or downed power lines.
We also discuss the hazards with downed trees in the roadway where power lines are involved, back feed from generators, step and touch potential and tools that your responders might have to use in some of these situations that could be conductive at various voltages.
Due to the tasks performed by firefighters and lineman alike, a lot of these type situations came into play for the first responders and HEMC employees, therefore HEMC just wants to remind you that we still have this program available if you would like to have us conduct it for you.
Please feel free to contact Steve Rogers if you would like to schedule a high-voltage safety/training presentation. Contact information for Steve is as follows:
