

Governor Cooper Announces HOPE Program
The Housing Opportunity and Prevention of Evictions (HOPE) Program is a new statewide initiative that provides rent and utility assistance to eligible low- and moderate-income renters experiencing financial hardship due to the economic effects of COVID-19. The new program will help prevent evictions and utility disconnections
in order to promote housing stability during the during the ongoing pandemic.
HOPE is an initiative of the NC Office of Recovery and Resiliency, a division of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Haywood EMC members can find out if you qualify for this program by calling 2-1-1. You can also apply online at www.nc211.org/hope. Please see the documents below for answers to some
frequently asked questions regarding this program and a checklist of information
that will be required to apply. This program is a grant program not a loan program.
You will need to apply as soon as possible for the HOPE program as it is open to
utility customers who meet the criteria across the state. Funding is limited so
apply soon.
