Haywood EMC is excited to announce its latest offering: A Community Solar Program. This innovative program allows member-owners to tap into solar energy without the need to install solar panels at their location.

The Community Solar Program is available on an opt-in basis to all member-owners served by the Cooperative. Participants can subscribe to a block or blocks of solar power on arrays owned by the Cooperative, located at 119 Grindstone Road Waynesville, NC 28785.

The monthly subscription fee for the program is $1.79 per panel, with a max availability of four panels per member-owner. The monthly subscription fee will be added to the monthly bill of the member-owner once they have opted-in.

Additionally, participants will receive energy credits for all kilowatt-hours (kWh) generated. The credit rates vary between summer (April – November) and winter (December – March), with 2.92¢ per kWh and 3.58¢ per kWh, respectively.

There is no guarantee of credit from energy generated each month. Some months, the subscription fee of $1.79/panel will be greater than credit from the energy generated by the panels. The credits generated or charges incurred will vary from month to month and will appear on each monthly Haywood EMC bill.

The initial contract period for service under this program is one (1) year, with automatic renewal for successive one-year periods. After the initial contract period, participants may terminate their service with a minimum of thirty (30) days prior notice.

Applicable state and local sales taxes will be added to all services billed under this program. Bills are due and payable on the due date during regular working hours, with service subject to suspension for non-payment.
