The first step is to contact an installer (see list below) and decide if investing in solar is right for you. Then you will need to submit an Interconnect Application located under the Renewable Energy Tab on our website.
We currently offer two solar rates:
- Sell All - Requires the installation of a separate service. All energy generated is then metered and purchased by HEMC at 4.4¢ kWh.
- Sell Excess - Electricity generated by the solar panels is consumed by the house first, and any excess/leftover electricity is purchased by Haywood EMC at 4.4¢ kWh.
The system cannot exceed 100kw.
Sell all rate ranges per month depending on size and equipment needed. Call us for more information!
Each month your bill will include a line item named “Renewable Generation Credit” listing the amount purchased back by Haywood EMC
Haywood EMC is not affiliated with any Solar company. However, we have heard great feedback from our members with several local installers. Give Haywood EMC a call if you have any questions on installers in the area.
After we get the inspection from the county, it generally takes 4-5 business days for the bi-directional meter to be installed
For a sell excess account, your bill represents only the excess electricity generated by the solar panels, not the total electricity consumed by the home.
