2023 marks 85 years of Haywood EMC's service to its communities throughout Western North Carolina.
Originally Cruso Mutual Electric Company, the cooperative was first formed in October of 1938 and served the most rural communities of Haywood County; Bethel, Cruso, and Lake Logan. The initial 37 miles of power line built made it possible for 170 member-owners to at last have power run to their homes and businesses. Previously, power was only served to those who lived in or closer to towns throughout Haywood County. From then on, The Cooperative has grown year after year to now serve over 28,000 member-owners across 6 counties of Western North Carolina as well as parts of Oconee, SC and Rabun, GA.
Haywood EMC is proud to be serve each member-owner day in and day out. Your electric cooperative looks forward to continue providing electricity - and much more - in the mountain communities we call home for years to come.
Thank you for letting us serve you!
