Haywood EMC plans Power Outage for High-Voltage Pole Replacement
Haywood County, NC, May 23, 2023 – Haywood EMC has planned a power outage that will affect 1,625 member-owners in the Thickety community of Haywood County. The power outage is expected to last approximately 4 hours beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, May 23, 2023 with a rain date of Thursday, May 25. The outage will allow Haywood EMC’s workers to replace two steel poles that were bent and damaged during a wind storm in April. The replacement of these poles is crucial for future reliability to the communities served by this high-voltage transmission line.
The areas to-be affected by this outage are as follows:
Chambers Mountain Road, Thompson Cove, Norman Road, Thickety Road, Cogburn Farm Road, Pilgrim Way, Warren Cove Road, Brown Cove, Incinerator Road, Sorrells Cove, Robinson Road, Hendrix Hills Drive, Crabtree Mountain Road, The Forest, Buckeye Cove, Beaverdam Heights, Beaverdam Road, Smathers Cove Road, Rice Cove, Wilson Cove, West Cove, Long Branch, The Glades, Worley Cove, North Hominy, Hunters Ridge, Newfound, King Cove, Mystic Cove, and Silent Forest.
It is possible that other areas of Northern Haywood County served by Haywood EMC could experience momentary “blinks” during the scheduled repairs.
Haywood EMC looks forward to providing members with continued safe, affordable, and reliable service as a result of the line maintenance.
