Currently, there is a shortage of transformers among utilities nationwide. What does this mean for Haywood EMC's members?
For connections requiring a new transformer, we have created a list of member-owners waiting for connection. This waiting period could possibly be as long as 3 months, particularly for underground service. In the meantime, Haywood EMC's crews and contracted crews are continuing construction of each job by installing lines and all other connections to have member-owners' service ready for when a transformer becomes available.
Haywood EMC is holding an emergency supply of transformers for repairing existing service in the event of routine repairs as well as damage during any winter storms. Currently, residential services are getting priority over gate services, yard lights, fences, etc.
As Haywood EMC begins to receive transformers, they will be distributed to members on the waiting list by using the inspection date received.
