An Update on Right-of-Way Cutting
Haywood EMC’s line workers and tree contractors have worked extremely hard for many long days and weeks following Hurricane Helene. The sheer amount of damage to trees throughout area has proved difficult for all field workers. As these workers were in the field working toward restoration following the storm, the numerous amount of downed trees across our 8-county service area meant many trees had to be cut from areas these workers would not normally cut. This cutting was to allow access for restoration via public and private roads and occasionally through member-owners land.
As we move out of our storm restoration efforts, Haywood EMC wanted to provide an update for all members who had trees cut in and around their property during these unique and challenging times. Any trees that fell as a result of the storm are the responsibility of the homeowner or landowner, as they would have been before the storm. This applies to trees and tree debris cut by our crews or contractors to allow restoration and access following the storm.
We thank you for understanding as our region continues to recover and move towards normalcy following this unprecedented disaster.
